How 2 be successful
Rating:
At every stage of a successful life are check lists. Here are just two. All you have to do is tick every box during the allocated time. Good luck!
At university you should:
- Be an academic genius
- Party the hardest
- Be a charismatic socialite with a phonebook full of the right acquaintances
- Be well rounded individual
- Be president/founder of a million and one societies
- Be the captain of a legendary sport team
- Bring glory to the university name
- Get a first class honours from the ‘right’ university
- On graduation win ‘most-likely-to-be-prime-minister’ top cash award
- Enter the career ladder three rungs up
At 30 you should:
- Be earning double what your parents earn.
- Have traveled the world, found yourself, and returned with a plan
- Be achieving your (decided upon) life goals
- Be married or at least engaged to a very fit and successful partner
- Be financially and emotionally ready for 2.4 children
- Be an active member of a gym
- Own your own home ripped right out of page 45 of “Best Home and Interior”
- Own a car that cost enough to feed a small country and makes people go ‘ooh!’
- Buy your food at M&S.
- Have a quietly increasing secure pension and substantial savings
- Holiday on a yaught in Greece during the summer, and enjoy being the best snowboarder in the Alps during your winter holiday.
Congratulations!
You have ticked all the boxes and are now a hugely-successful-got-the-balance-between-family-and-work-academic-and-social-genius. You know your self worth. You have made it.
Alternately…
The other option is to realize you’ll never be perfect. Give yourself a break, look after your health, spend time on the things that matter most to you, and remember that if you take a day off, the world will keep on turning.
