How to be a married flirt

Rediscover the art of flirting... with your partner, of course!

Dull and boring?

Let’s face it: most of us never thought we’d get even remotely dull and boring like some married couples we’d observed while we were still engaged. Fast forward five, ten or fifteen years, and you may have to admit that the distractions of kids, demanding jobs and the pressures of life have sucked some – if not much – of the fun and sexual play out of your marriage.

It’s hard to feel sexy when you’re tired. Many of us put on our best efforts when we engage with our neighbours, colleagues or other parents at the school gates, and then easily slip into lazy, can’t-be-bothered mode at home.

Who do you fancy?

One day – gasp – to your horror, you realise that it’s possible to find yourself attracted to someone else. The one you married does not seem half as fanciable as they once did. Guess what this means? Yep, your partner is also most likely to come across others that s/he finds interesting and attractive.

In this moment, you have a choice. You can continue in this mindset, believing that your partner has become boring, and looking forward to every little encounter with so-and-so from work or the gym or wherever. Or, you can consciously decide to put some spark back into your marriage and revive the passionate little interactions that you once had.  Choose to invest your emotions and desires once again in your partner, the one whom you used to fancy like crazy!

Make it personal

Something that appeals to you or turns you on may do absolutely nothing for me, and vice versa. Find out what type of things push your partner into gear, and think back to the early days of your relationship. Remember some little things you enjoyed doing – like sharing an umbrella in the rain or dancing together in the candlelight – and work from there.

Love Talk…

Make sure that the sweet or sexy things being heard by your married partner are coming from you. Just don’t go from zero sexy talk to verbal overload in one day – you may scare your partner off! Move things along a notch or two at a time.

The Joy of Texting

All day long you may be reading work-related emails and texts, and then you find one that makes you grin like a loon. It’s your husband or wife reminding you of last night, or what’s in store for you later... Use technology to your advantage before a third party tries to cut in and get your partner’s attention.

Eye Candy

Make yourself visually available more often for your husband or wife, say after a shower or simply getting dressed. Shut the door to keep out any nosy kids and be visually enthralled by this amazing person you married, even just for 10 seconds in the morning. They’ll be thinking of you for the rest of the day.

Finally –

Pursue adventure and newness again, laugh together more and take any chance to enjoy your best friend, lover and soul-mate. Flirts are also notoriously good at the art of conversation. So above all, keep talking.
