Lease of life?
I'm considering changing my style of car ownership, mainly because my current runabout is starting to be more of a creepabout.
I recently drove a pretty much brand new hire car and thought, 'I like this'. Thing is I can't afford it.
Or can I? The more I think about, the more leasing makes sense to me. I reckon it costs me about a grand to run a car for a year, before I put any petrol in. Could I get a lease option that didn't cost me much more. A very quick (5 minute) google search later and the answer is probably 'yes'.
Okay I wouldn't own the car. But on the plus side I wouldn't own the car. Something goes wrong, I get a new one. I get bored, I get a new one. Now you could say: 'But you pay all that money and have nothing to show for it.' But that's true now. The money spent on new tyres, servicing, insurance, road tax - what have I got left at the end of the year to show for it?
Nothing. I have to spend all that again next year.
So, if next time you see me and I'm driving a flash new car, you'll know why.
