Caffeine - friend or fiend?
I gave up caffeine once. My friend Al still laughs about how I moved around in a daze, barely aware of what day it was, answering questions with a silly time lag while I tried to assemble my muddled thoughts.
I fell off the caffeine wagon with a bump a few months later with some delicious coffee. I felt so alive as the drug coursed through my system. My synapses were snapping, my brain was buzzing, my heart was beating a bit faster than usual. I was full of vim and vigour. Why did I ever give it up, this miracle drug of the gods? What kind of fool was I?
But those effects wear off. And today I’m sitting in a mild caffeine hangover, feeling lethargic, wondering if it’s time to give it up again. What do you think, blog reader? Should I try to go caffeine-free again? Let me know on the forums.
