Puberty never stops
I seem to be growing hair on my ears. I don’t mean in my ears, but on the lobes, round about where other people have ear-rings.
And despite regular trimmings with my Remington nostril-hair trimmers, my nose seems to be trying to compete with my ears for the ‘Most irritating unwanted hair growth’ award.
Is this normal? It’s as if puberty never stops. Every so often I discover new hair in an unexpected place. It’s as if my body thinks I might get bored unless it does something weird.
And when exactly do you stop having zits? You’d think when the growth spurts and awkward gangliness are over, that’s it. But no! Every so often a pore on my face will decide to turn into a fierce red bump with a white head which will throb away until I pop it in a small goopy explosion of zit-pus. (I know you’re not supposed to squeeze them, but it feels so good when you do!)
So it seems, having gone through so much to get here, adulthood isn’t the nirvana I was promised. Far from my body being a state of perfection, it’s actually just sneakily odd. And as I get older, it seems to be getting odder.
