Time-wasting tell-tales
I was unpleasantly surprised recently to discover a game I was playing had a built in time function, which would tell me how many hours I’d spent playing it. I’d played 40 hours. Not much you’d say, but my contracted working week at present is 37.5 hours.
So I’ve spent the equivalent of more than a working week playing that game - and I haven’t even completed it yet!
It’s the same depressing story if you check my ‘Freecell’ stats on the computer. I’ve played literally hundreds of games and although I think my win rate is pretty good, I’m not sure it’s something I should be proud of. Those stats represent a sizeable chunk of my life spent playing an electronic card game.
Now I’m thinking what else could I do with that time? I know we need time to relax and re-energise, but, being honest, I could probably have used those 40 spare hours more usefully.
