Dissatisfied?
Have you ever watched a film or TV show and felt dissatisfied with your humdrum life? I've written elsewhere about the dangers of the Hollywood nonsense that your perfect soul mate is out here somewhere and will one day show up a la whatever romcom is currently the most popular.
But there's other stuff too. I wish I was a Jedi Knight. That would be so handy. I'd also like my car to double up as a Transformer (an Autobot like Bumblebee, natch). A proper working time machine would be good too, preferably more accurate and reliable than the TARDIS.
But even the simpler stuff leaves me dissatisfied. I wish I could cook a bit more like Delia, or had the time to do the gardening. Lifestyle programmes depress me. How do they think I''m supposed to do all that stuff after a hard day's work, or on top of everything else I seem to have signed up for? They're full of good ideas, but the time I spend watching the shows to get the good ideas means I don't have time to use the good ideas!
Bin the telly and be happy? Is that the answer? Well, at least it will save me paying out for a TV licence.
