When the motivation is lacking
Occasionally I find it hard to get round to doing stuff. If I’m working on a tedious job, I may find other stuff takes priority. But this is more than your average procrastination. I will seek out harder stuff to do just so I don’t have to do the boring thing I don’t want to do.
Some days are better than others. Some days I can fly through the tedious stuff, zipping through it quickly enough for it to even be fun.
But those days when I can barely raise my head off the pillow and I have to drag myself to the computer – those days are tough.
Those are the days I stare blankly into space for an hour. It’s the equivalent of that screen you used to get when you shut down Windows – ‘It is now safe to turn off your computer’.
I’m not sure what the way round this motivational block is. Sometimes you just have to power through it. Sometimes if you ignore a task long enough it goes away.
We all have different coping mechanisms for this kind of situation – what’s yours?
