Appliance unreliance
Recently our washing machine stopped mid-cycle. After some careful coaxing and one or two well-adjudged thumps, it finally relinquished the sopping wet clothes inside. But now it doesn’t seem to want to work.
I feel powerless when things like that break. I’m not very mechanically minded. It could be the motor or the drum or the reverse negative power coupling on the hyperdrive. It’s not a new machine so I can’t shout at someone at the shop and get them to replace it. So, it seems I’m stuck with having to find a useful person to repair it.
But I’m putting that off, so we haven’t had a working washing machine for over a week now. And it seems that everything goes wrong at the same time. This morning I opened the fridge to get out the milk for my crunchy nut flakes and the door fell off.
Aaargh.
