Wedding Season
It's officially summer: school's out, the sun almost is, and everywhere we look weddings are happening.
Marriage is more popular than ever. According to a recent Civitas/Ipsos Mori survey, 70 % of 20- 35 year olds want to marry or be married and nearly eight in ten people who are living together want to marry.
Weddings are a massive industry. Not only do couples often get in to debt to fund their 'big day', but weddings can be expensive affairs for wedding guests too. I am going to three weddings this year so am keen for ideas to keep down wedding guest costs.
In the haze of white dresses, champagne, reunions with old friends and the chance for a great party, it is easy to put a great deal of energy into planning the 'Wedding Day' and to forget to put time into preparing for married life. Katharine Hill tells Looking at life how couples can prepare for their marriage and not just the wedding day, whilst David and Liz Percival share some great advice for couples navigating the early years.
If you are engaged or want to give a gift to someone who is, take a look at 'Rules of Engagement', a great book for any couple preparing for marriage. (And for anyone new who signs up to receive our ezine we are giving away a free copy of the book for a limited time!)
Thanks to all of you who have sent us your thoughts, words, photos....Keep them coming.
Have a great summer.
Emma
