Boxes, cleaning products and general upheaval

It’s that time of year  when students up and leave their cities, packing up their lives once again. Since I live in a house with student friends, I’m right in the middle of the chaos. Along the way I’m realising some things:

  • My house is dirtier than I ever knew
  • The charity shop will be selling lots of my stuff this summer
  • I’ll miss my housemates next year – a lot
  • I have no idea which kitchen utensils are mine
  • I am a hoarder (Yesterday I threw out birthday cards from 3 years ago)
  • Change brings a whole bag of mixed emotions

In all the mess and change and madness, I’m coming to terms with what it all means. This is the last time I’ll live with a bunch of girls. That means no more mid-revision stress release silliness sessions, no more late night chats in our pajamas, no more chocolate-wine-film girls nights in. But it also means I’m moving out of a tiny box room into a house that I’ll share with my husband, and there’ll only be two people’s washing up. More importantly, it’s a significant step into a new stage of life. Goodbye student house. Hello matrimony. I’m a grown-up biscuit now.
