I'm a coffee snob
I have some friends who are self-confessed coffee snobs. Having spent much of the last year sharing working and living space with them, I have to say, I’ve been converted.
My prejudices have developed so that now, when I’m offered a cup of coffee in someone else’s house, I ask, ‘What kind of coffee?’ If the reply is ‘instant’, I’ll ask if they’ve got any tea. I just can’t stomach instant coffee anymore. It’s just a hot drink pretending to be coffee, when it’s really, really not. I try to make the distinction without being rude, and save myself the embarrassment of having to politely drink a mug full of yuck without grimacing.
I’m far from wealthy, but I have decided that some things in life are worth forking out for. Coffee is one. Wine is another. I’m not sure what the others are yet. As for the caffeine issue… you’ll have to ask Kev Kennedy. I try to limit myself to 3 cups a day. But if you ARE going to be a coffee drinker, you might as well make it good coffee.
