Footie for Street Kids
I just heard about a really cool initiative. It’s called the Street Child World Cup. The tournament will run alongside the usual World Cup in March 2010. There are a number of things I love about this idea:
1. It values people who are often seen as worthless
2. It helps kids believe in themselves, through a game they love
3. It’s an interesting alternative to the grossly over-paid world-class professional footballers, focusing instead on poor-as-anything world-class talented street kids.
4. It’s fun, it’s imaginative, and it’ll do so much good
There are so many good things going on in the world. It’s really easy to forget this when the headlines are full of bad news. But it’s great to know that in a bad news situation, people are working hard to bring something good from it. I don’t know about you, but it makes me excited. And it makes me feel like the world isn’t such a bad place after all.

Another great idea I heard about recently is The Big Lunch – and it’s happening tomorrow! Read my last blog to find out more.
