MI5 not 9 to 5

Lately, I’ve really got into DVD box sets. My favourite at the moment is BBC’s spy drama ‘Spooks’. It’s tense, it’s exciting, and it’s oh so addictive. My husband loves it as well, so recently we’ve developed a habit of watching Spooks (season six) every night after dinner.

This week I went away for a night, and my man promised he would wait until I was back to watch the next episode. But as we were eating dinner and catching up on our news, I realised that there were a load of things I wanted to talk about together. As the conversation developed, we decided that maybe we should leave Spooks for another evening and carry on talking. It was a tough decision… after all, it’s a great show. But the real-life drama of our hopes and fears and our plans for the future is what it's all about. We ended up having a great conversation, and a great evening.

I’m glad we turned off the TV and turned our attention to our own lives. When we’re both tired, it’s easy to enjoy each other’s company and chill out together without ever really connecting properly. But before we watch MI5 save the world from destruction once again tonight, we’ll have a chat to see how we’re both surviving in the real world.
