A weekend with the girls
A friend of mine turned 25 this week. The four of us have been close friends since school, but these days we only see each other a few times a year. Instead of sending a card and an item of easy-to-post jewellery, this year we’re all getting together for some quality hang-out time. I’m really looking forward to a day of non-stop talking, laughing, eating and drinking.
With a whole day and night at our disposal, we’ll discuss the details, enjoy a few ‘men are rubbish’ rants, and get to the core of the issue. We’ll share our hopes and fears for the coming months and the years ahead. We’ll encourage each other, affirm each other, and remember why we need each other around. It’s strange, we can go for months on end without getting in touch, but when we meet up, the conversation leaves no stone unturned. It’s what friendship is all about: sharing life, lifting each other up, spurring ourselves on to face our problems with courage and keep reaching for our dreams. I can’t wait.
