Making time for life
I’m going on holiday next week, and I’m REALLY looking forward to it. I feel like I haven’t had a day off in a month. My current pace of life just isn’t sustainable, so I’ll have to do something about that. But how?
How do you fit in work, exercise, housework, eating, sleeping, and relaxing? If you take any of those out of the equation, things start to go wrong. And how do you balance all of that with spending time with your other half, staying in touch with friends, and having some space for yourself?
If I’ve learnt anything from Care for the Family’s Rob Parsons, it’s this: The slower day never comes. If you can’t remember when life was not so busy, it’s time to act. There must be something I can cut out to make time for life to happen.
Perhaps I can cut down on TV. When I get home from work, exhausted, all I want to do is veg out until bedtime. But there must be a more effective and less time-consuming way to relax. I could even fit in a bit of reading, or play guitar, or finally stick some photos in an album. I might even feel more in control, more relaxed, more alive. I’ll give it a go.
